About Blue for a Boy

Blue for a Boy is an exciting website bringing together the very best the world has to offer in the way of clothing and blankets, exclusively for baby boys and little boys aged 0-3 years.

We sell a truly unique selection of products which appeal to a wide variety of tastes and which suit the vibrant and brilliant characteristics of little boys. Anyone looking for originality and quality will find something at Blue for a Boy.

We sell the bold and the beautiful, the traditional and the quirky, the conventional and the flamboyant, the sublime and the ridiculous! Our clothes celebrate what it is to be a little boy and, in a departure from the experiences at most high street shops, we bring enjoyment into shopping for boys.

Most of our products are organic and we would love to stock an entirely organic range. Unfortunately the few non-organic items we do stock were simply too irresistible to turn away!

All products are wrapped in the most luxuriously crisp "Blue for a Boy" branded tissue paper with sticker, making it an enviable gift for someone.

Beautifully presented gift tags with handwritten messages for that extra special touch are also available at no cost - simply choose the "Leave a Gift Message" option during the check-out process.

Our stock is constantly evolving and being updated as we source the next new and exciting product. So keep coming back and checking out what delights lie waiting for you to discover.

For the extra special purchase we often sell products that are limited editions or that cannot be bought anywhere else in the UK. And when you are asked where you got the item from you can lift your head up high and smile “I found it at Blue for a Boy!”

Environmental Impact

We care about the environment and, in so doing, try to keep our packaging to a minimum. Wherever possible we use materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, are/or made from renewable sources.

We are always looking for new environmentally-friendly materials, which will be added to our range as and when they become available.

What’s wrong with conventional cotton?

We support organic farming by selling clothing made almost exclusively from organically-grown cotton. This is because the manufacture of conventional cotton involves the use of many chemical fertilisers and pesticides, which have serious environmental and health hazards.

The World Health Organisation estimates that every year up to 3 million agricultural workers in developing countries experience severe pesticide poisoning. Up 20,000 of them die. When used heavily, pesticides disrupt the natural ecosystem and reduce biodiversity. In addition, the pests which the chemicals are supposed to kill often develop resistance, forcing the farmer to use ever stronger chemicals.

Why organic is better

On the other hand, organic cotton is grown using methods that are sustainable to both the workers and the environment, without the need for pesticides during harvest.

Organic farming relies on the tradition of crop rotation, the use of green manure and compost. Pests are controlled biologically with the use of mechanical cultivation, which also maintains the health and productivity of the soil. The diversity of birds, butterflies and plants is always greater on organic farms and there is no use of GM technology.

Organic cotton is now produced in more than 22 countries, including many developing countries. Farmers can safely feed themselves with food grown on the land and, through the higher incomes they tend to generate, are able to educate and provide health care for their children.
